Le Vallauris is a work of art disguised as a restaurant in Palm Springs. The dining area is accented with luxurious Flemish tapestries and the furnishings are fit for 18th century French royalty. The comfortable atmosphere at Le Vallauris is accentuated by beauty everywhere you look. The decor is every bit as artful as the food they serve. Even the menu is reminiscent of art, as it is handwritten on a board and placed on an easel by guests’ tables. All of this is enough to make La Vallauris fabulous, but they also have the best dessert menu in Palm Springs, which is no mean feat.
The Le Vallauris dessert menu has everything you would expect of French after-dinner cuisine. For frozen treats, there is vanilla ice cream served with berries, three sorbets made fresh and a baba and rhum ice cream served with broth soaked sponge cake, tropical fruit and Somersweets. There are two options for soufflé. One is chocolate, served with chocolate ice cream. The other is a Grand Marnier soufflé served with crème Anglaise. There is rice pudding, mousse and tarte du jour, all made with delicious twists and classics, such as raspberry coulis, hazelnut and coffee. There is even an assortment of cheeses on the Le Vallauris dessert menu.
Apart from the extensive wine list at Le Vallauris, there is also a list of drinks to have with dessert or in lieu of dessert right on the dessert menu. There is a small, but refined, selection of ports. There is, of course, Courvoisier and two selections of Remy Martin. There is also a selection of elite brandies and Cognac.
Ending dinner at Le Vallauris is the beginning of more great-tasting food and drink. At any good French restaurant, skipping dessert should be out of the question, but at Le Vallauris, this is doubly so.
